This is my first time stopping in Lake Charles. While here I decided to get something to eat. I found the restaurant on Google. The reviews were great so I decided to try them out. I'm glad I did. I ordered a chicken dinner with dressing, mustard greens, and cornbread. The chicken, dressing, and cornbread were amazing. They got my order ready pretty quickly too. I would strongly recommend them if you are in Lake Charles. They are right by I-10 in a white and red house.
Best fried chicken I have had! The batter is amazing! The amount of food served is almost enough to share… but as good as all the food is you won’t wanna share lol. Location is great for traveling through. Definitely will be a must stop during our road trips! Thanks Mamma Reta for existing!
This place should be 5's across the board... my family and I lived in Lake Charles 7 years ago and it was my favorite then... Im visiting now and had to stop by to get the fried chicken.... being from MS where we literally fry everything, good fried chicken is everywhere.... THIS IS THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN I've ever had....even if the food was lacking, which it isnt, the customer service is 10/10 always... they also package the chicken so that it remains hot if you have to drive a little before eating....almost ate an entire 8 pc🤦🏾♀️

I had no idea how good Mama Reta’s Kitchen was until recently. I passed by on Sunday when I was in Lake Charles. I ordered just classic southern cooking, but everything I ordered was done well and packed with soul. We got both fried and Baked Chicken, both had good flavors. Their cornbread dressing was perfectly mixed with great taste. Fried & Baked Chicken, cornbread dressing, yams and cake.
Omg this Chicken and sides was so damn delicious. The favor just marinated in my stomach. Rice and cornbread dressing, cabbage greens, string beans with potatoes. This kinda food have me thinking about moving to Lake Charles. The staff was so friendly. Love everything about it.
We picked this based on Google on our way to Houston, and I am so glad we did! We ordered 4 chicken boxes with sides, and the chicken was huge, juicy, and delicious! It is salty and crispy the way I love it and grew up eating it. Mama Reta came to the window to say his, and she explained that she grew up in the house where her drive through restaurant is now housed (and her kids and grandkids). The sweet tea was SWEET! Loved it. The fried okra was perfect and I loved the mustard greens 💚 she surprised us with 4 little pieces of cake. We will be back to visit Mama Reta again! Highly, highly recommend for authentic southern cooking.
